US Tech Companies Urged to Adopt ‘America First’ Strategy, USTR Officials Advise

During a two-day visit to India, a US Trade Representative (USTR) delegation urged American tech companies to follow an “America First” strategy. Officials emphasized directing investments in technology and AI infrastructure primarily to the US, focusing on creating meaningful domestic jobs rather than outsourcing abroad. Led by Deputy USTR Rick Switzer and trade negotiator Brendan Lynch, the delegation held meetings with US tech firms, highlighting capex investments in hardware, energy, and AI sectors. While foreign investments are allowed, they should not exceed US commitments. This approach aligns with US priorities to retain high-value jobs and leverage AI developments in India strategically.
