The History of the Red Fort

The Red Fort, located in Delhi, is one of India’s most iconic monuments and a symbol of the country’s rich history. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639, it served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. Constructed with red sandstone, the fort showcases stunning Mughal architecture, including intricate carvings, majestic gates, and beautiful gardens. It was the center of political and cultural activities during the Mughal era. Today, the Red Fort stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is celebrated annually on India’s Independence Day.
